WHAT'S PROPOSED?

Convention Center
-
Funded through bond proceeds, repaid via fees and sales tax.
-
Owned by the city but managed by the hotel.
-
The only component that requires voter approval.
-
The convention center is the only project on the ballot, the proposal also includes the addition of a parking garage and a hotel. These additions depend on the approval of the convention center.
Full Project
-
Create a hospitality experience for both visitors and the local community.
-
Address the parking demand while supporting the hotel and convention center.
-
The concept calls for a hotel with a connecting convention center and parking structure accessible to all facilities.
-
All components (hotel, convention center, and parking structure) will be built simultaneously.
Hotel
-
The hotel will be mostly funded with publicly sold bonds, sold on the open market.
-
The city has identified a need for this type of hotel through multiple surveys.
-
Boutique Style Hotel.
-
Managed by the hotel operator.
Parking Structures
-
Funded separately using city funds with no tax increase.
-
City has done surveys & studies about improvements about parking on Oak Street. While this parking garage will be available, the city is also moving forward with the one at 377 & Main. Once both parking structures are constructed, that should give ample parking to the Oak Street Area.
